Maximum bar spacing: 4 inches
Vertical picket spacing cannot exceed 4 inches. Prevents children from squeezing through.

Self-latching with thumb-turn on pool side

Pool Fence FAQ
What are the pool fence requirements in Nassau County?
Nassau County requires a pool barrier (fence) at least 48 inches (4 feet) high with a maximum 4-inch gap between vertical bars. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching with the latch on the pool side, out of reach of children. All pools require a permit. We know the Nassau County code and have not failed an inspection on our installations.
What about Suffolk County pool fence rules?
Suffolk County follows similar NYS requirements: minimum 4-foot barrier height, self-closing self-latching gates, and a permit. Individual towns may have additional requirements. We research the specific rules for your address before we quote.
How much does a pool fence cost on Long Island?
A standard pool fence (aluminum, 4-foot, around a typical in-ground pool) typically runs $28 to $45 per linear foot installed. Most Long Island pools need 140 to 200 linear feet. We give free written estimates.
Does my above-ground pool need a fence?
Yes. NYS and most Long Island municipalities require barriers around above-ground pools regardless of height. If the pool deck itself is 48 inches above grade and has a lockable access point, it may count as the barrier. This is case-by-case. We can advise based on your specific setup.
Will my pool fence pass the town inspection?
Every pool fence we install is built to code. If it doesn't pass inspection for any reason related to our work, we come back and fix it at no charge. We have not had a failed inspection yet.
